Aurelio Solimini

Aurelio "Ray" Solimini, 74, of Old Forge, passed away on Monday, March 6, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ray was the son of the late John and Rose (Panpino) Solimini.

Ray was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea. He graduated from St. John's High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. After high school, Ray joined the Navy and served for four years. He worked many years for the Boar's Head Meat Co., and retired from Maple Crest Housing Development, Maryland, as a maintenance supervisor. After retirement, he was a co-owner and operator along with his son, Sal, in the antique furniture business, they owned Paradise Antiques, Taylor.

Ray was a social member of the Old Forge VFW and the Old Forge American Legion. Ray was known for his great sense of humor. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Mark Solimini; and his brother, Anthony.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie (LaFonte) Solimini; his children, Christopher, of Jessup; Sal Solimini and his companion, Ann Marie Lavelle, of Avoca; and Elizabeth Solimini and her companion, Christine Poncavage, of Duryea. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Morgan, Mason and John; a great-granddaughter, Adelina; his brothers, Joseph and his wife, Shirleen, of Clarks Summit; John and his wife, Joan, of Florida; his sister, Mary Ann Koreck, of Waymart; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Stephenson Street, Duryea, BY Father John V. Polednak. Friends may call Thursday, March 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment at a later date.
