Barbara Anderson Obituary

Barbara Ann "Queen" Wiggins Anderson peacefully received her wings at her residence on Friday, January 26, 2024. Barbara Ann was the daughter of the late Bessie LouBertha Stokes and Oliver Sanders Wiggins. Born on April 1, 1945, she was 78 years of age. She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Westwego, La. Barbara Ann attended the Orleans Parish school system and was a graduate of John McDonald Sr. High School, attended Delgado Community College, Cosmetology Institute of NOLA (formally known as Katie's Beauty and Barber School of Cosmetology) and perfected her millinery and floral skills by attending Creative Floral Design School in Gretna, La. Queen enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and crossing path with others; she never met a stranger. She was blessed with artistic hands and was able to make the most beautiful creations. She could take anything and bring new life to it in her uniquely amazing way. She also enjoyed gardening, adorning her home with beautiful flowers and plants. Music moved her feet and she loved to dance to the sounds of good music especially The O'Jays and Gladys Knight and was a diehard Saints fan. She was members of the Original BlueTones Social and Pleasure Club and Order of Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation - A V Williams #178 Chapter. Being called Queen fit her perfectly. She loved to travel and did so extensively, residing in places like Germany and The Netherlands, but for the Queen, there was no place like home. She had an abundant life and lived it to the fullest. She never missed an opportunity to make an entrance, and each and every time, she was a sight to behold. She was always meticulously dressed from the crown of head to the soles of her feet. In her queenly stature she always declared, "A lady never takes her shoes off in public." She frequently said her daughters were her most prized possessions that God blessed her and that no one better not mess with! Brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, blood relatives, pretend relatives, or neighbors Barbara Ann sincerely loved her family deeply and always wanted to be where family was having a good time. As much as she loved her beautiful daughters and her family, her greatest love was for her Lord and her Savior. At a young age she gave her life to God at Greater Saint Stephens Baptist Church under the leadership under Reverend Percy Simpson and Paul S. Morton Sr. She made Him a promise: if He would take care of her she would take care of His people. She was affiliated with several churches, organizations and choirs under watch care. During her visits to Atlanta, she attended Woods Memorial Baptist Church. Her favorite gospel artists were greats such as Shirley Ceasar, James Cleveland, Canton Spirituals and Aretha Franklin. Her all-time favorite - the legendary Williams Brothers, to name a few. She was passionate about discovering the mystery and insights of God's Word "the 66 books" and sharing with others about His goodness. Philippians 4:13 & Proverbs 3:5-6 were foundational scriptures on which she stood. For almost a decade she mentored, poured out and faithfully ministered in the FamilyThatPrays504 Ministry where she co-chaired Overflowing Worship under the direction of the Holy Spirit "feeding the sheep" with daily devotions, inspirations and pearls of wisdom. In 1967 she was swept off her feet with the love of her life Myles Turner Jr., from this divine connection on December 23, 1967, was joined in matrimony and this union was blessed with four blessings from God and later in years she crossed paths in matrimony to James R. Anderson. Barbara Ann was preceded in death by Myles Turner and James R. 'Jim' Anderson, her brothers Henry Stokes, Oliver Stokes Sr., Johnny "Rickey" Stokes, sisters Janice Stokes and Emma McCoy, sister-in-law Shirley Stokes and Godmother Viola Goldstone. She leaves to cherish her memories four phenomenal daughters: Javetta (Anthony) McPherson of Atlanta; Lisa Marie Turner of Spring, Texas; Christina (Frederick) Gilbert of Houston, and Angela (Arnold) Basquine of New Orleans, and Goddaughters Virgie Wells and Jonte' Legard. Her brothers Idel Wallace Jr., and Jerome Wallace, devoted brother-in-law Rev. Raymond McCoy, Sr. and sisters Alma Gail Wells, Olivia Sandra Stokes, Antoinette Davis and Rosemary Butler; loving and devoted sister-in-law Effie Stokes; 12 grandchildren: Derek Nathaniel (Leah) Gould, Jr., Brandon Alexander Hollmon, Dwayne Nathaniel (Kourtney) Gould, Sr., Alexander Nelson Hollmon III, Darrin Myles Gould, Sr., Errol Christopher Franklin, Kyron Gentile' Turner, Tremayne Gentile' Williams, Jr., Dereana Alisha (Wayne) Galle', D'Lissa Marie (Jarvis) O'Neal, Courtney Michele Franklin and Christian Erin Franklin. 25 great-grandchildren and 6 bonus great-grandchildren. Devoted friend Chip Forstall, longtime friend Marion R. Taylor and cherished friends that became like sisters Joyce Doucett and Clista "Cee" Carrington and Sylvia Bennett. Her very special friends that she kept in contact with, Suzie Addison, Devery Jackson and Andrea Blondie Moss sharing fun memorable times together. She will also be greatly missed by a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives, friends, family, employees of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, of Atlanta, Chesley Brown Security of Atlanta, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Children's Hospital of New Orleans, McKesson Medical, of Houston, Parklawn Memorial LLC. of Houston, LCMC, Chip Forstall & Associate, Joellen Smith Living Center, United States Postal Service, Napoleon Room Bingo, Oprah Beauty Supply, GFL Environmental, Conroe, Texas, Kingfish New Orleans Restaurant, Joseph S. Javette and family please accept our condolences. We will continue to lift you and family in prayer. For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

To the family. I know that this one of the most difficult times in our lives. The Queen has crossed over to that eternal life that our God has promised us. She lived her earthly life to the fullest. She has left her legacy of love to be carried on by her beautiful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends. She is now at rest and peace forevermore. Those of us who have made Jesus Christ the Lord and of our lives will meet her again at His return.

We all must look to the Lord for the strength, grace and peace to help us to make it through this difficult time. God is faithful! Take this life one second at a time because we now know that life can change in a matter of seconds. You are in my prayers.

Love,

Tee Linda
