Barbara Jean Davis

1948 - 2023

Barbara Jean Davis transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the age of 75. She was born on May 19, 1948, to the late Zachary Alveris Sr., and Olivia Bienemy Alveris. Barbara Jean graduated from Phoenix High School in 1966. She worked for Charity Hospital as an Accounts Payable Clerk for 33 years and retired in 2005. She was a native of Dalcour, LA, and a resident of New Orleans, LA. With an unwavering passion for gardening, Barbara Jean transformed her surroundings into her own personal sanctuary, nurturing her countless plants and garden that will forever stand as a testament to her green thumb and tender care. Barbara Jean is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Mae Griffin (Ulysses Sr.), and brothers Royal, Burnell, Zachary Jr., and Walter (Doris Mae) Alveris. She was a faithful member of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, under Bishop Paul S. Morton Sr., and Pastor Debra B. Morton. She leaves to cherish her memories , her daughter, Keidra Venise Thomas, granddaughter, Kellis Deandry Davis, grandson, Eric Joseph Thomas Jr., brother, Roland (Geraldine) Alveris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. May Barbara Jean's memory continue to bloom in the hearts of all her family, friends, and loved ones. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Neurobehavioral Group and Charity Hospital are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 111 Bethlehem Lane, Braithwaite, LA 70040. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Service will begin at 11:00 am. Host pastor, Rev. Michael Wade Jiles Sr., officiant, Rev. Christopher Francis.
