One of Ben's proudest accomplishments was serving as a New Orleans Police officer from 1960 until 2022. In 2018, he was promoted to Sergeant Major, which was only awarded one other time in the history of the Department. Upon his retirement from the NOPD in 2022, he was recognized as the longest tenured active law enforcement (62 years) officer in the United States. In 1983, he formed the Crisis Transportation Service, which assisted the NOPD with the handling and transportation of mentally ill patients. On September 3, 1960, he married his love Esther Martinez (Glaudi). In his early years, Benjamin attended Redemptorist High School and Tulane University on athletic scholarships. Ben was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War from 1951-1953. Ben was an outstanding baseball pitcher who played for the New Iberia Pelicans and was a member of that minor league team who won the 1954 Evangeline League. Ben's pitching record that year was 3-0. I was thinking about Sgt Glaudi today and just found out about his passing. He was such a wonderful person who helped so many. I knew him through volunteering with CTS 1826. Sarge was a lot of fun and had a lot of good jokes, always making others laugh. I know he will be missed by many. My condolences to all of his family, friends and coworkers.

I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Ben's passing. I met him when I went through the NOPD Academy. The unit he formed (Crisis Unit) was very valuable for dealing with disturbed people and a big help to all of us. I had the honor of working with his sons who were on the job. My deepest condolences to all of his loved ones...

I met Sarge in the early 80´s when I joined 1826 crisis unit. We would sit and talk in his office on Moss St. He was a true character and we would laugh and laugh. The pleasure of knowing Sarge was all mine. You have earned your rest, Sarge. May you rest eternally in the arms of our lord. You will be missed.

Sarg was one of the most amazing, intelligent man I had ever met. I loved working with the NOPD Crisis Unit 6512 with him as my Sargent. He taught me a lot and the unit will never be the same without him. R.I.P.

Sgt. Glaudi was a sincere person. His service and leadership to the Mobile Crisis Unit (6512) was an awesome and paramount feat.
He was whole-heartedly respected, admired, and loved by NOPD! He acknowledged and engaged with all without reservations. Sgt. Glaudi will truly be missed. God bless you!
