Bernard and I were friends.I used to live in NO years ago.i remember one weekend riding with NOPD 6th Dist on the route with Bernard and his partner.
I learned of his death after reading his book "The Big Easy,Not So Easy.This broke my heart.Working as a LEO , Bernard gave me a lot of gear.
Bernard was a special person.
May he rest in eternal peace and fly High with the angels.
Gone but never forgotten.

My heartfelt condolences to the Butler family. I knew Bernard from his aunt Francine who used to be my neighbor in the 80's. I was ordering a book by Bernard Butler and just found out he passed. In the 90's I had the
Opportunity to ride patrol with Officer Bernard Butler in the 6th district. I am so sad to hear of his passing. Bernard was a down to earth person with a warm spirit . I am about to complete my purchase of his book. May God continue to keep and bless each of you.
