Bertha Lightell Obituary

Bertha Mae Lightell, formerly of Chalmette, LA for 55 years, passed away at the age of 81 on September 25, 2009 in Kingwood, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Erath and Bertha Quere' Erath; her grandson, Michael Murphy; and her brothers Charles G. Erath, Jr. and Robert C. Erath; and sisters Dolores E. Anderson and Lillian E. Pavlovich. She is survived by her son, A. Ray Lightell, Jr. and her daughter, Patricia L. Murphy and their spouses, Phillis N. Lightell and Robert E. Murphy and by her four grandchildren and their spouses, Robert E. Murphy III (Suzanne), Timothy P. Lightell, Amy L. Tamplain (Kerry) and James A. Lightell; and her three great-grandchildren, Cullen Murphy, Savannah Murphy, and Emelia Tamplain. She is also survived by her brother, Harold G. Erath and sister, Patricia E. Sagnibene and many nieces and nephews. Aunt Sister, as she was known to her family, was beloved by all during her 81 years. She lived a long and wonderful life caring for her family and her husband, Ray. She was a friend to many and is greatly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial service for Bertha and her husband Ray will be held on Thursday July 15, 2021 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chalmette. Visitation will start at 10:00 am. The Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Louis #3 Cemetery on Esplanade Ave.in New Orleans.
