Betty Alexis Obituary

Betty Lou Alexis received her wings on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the age of 91. She was born on March 26, 1930 to the union of the late Robert Bedney, Sr. and Mary Ward. She grew up in the French Quarter/Treme neighborhood, where she met the love of her life, the late Walter Alexis, Jr. She attended Joseph A. Craig Elementary School in the Treme neighborhood. Betty was also a devoted parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on St. Roch Avenue in New Orleans. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Walter (Deborah), Anthony (Linda), Allen (Evette), Michael, Deborah, Sheila Williams (late Leon), Brian and Nicole Lewis(Byron); one brother, Clifton Bedney; sisters in law, Rosemary Prince (Texas), Myrtle Dorsey (New Orleans), Stella Williams (California) and Betty Marcelin (California), fifty grand, great-grand and great- great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Alexis was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur Peter Alexis, Sr; six siblings, Stanley, Robert, Jr., Lionel, Alvin, Victoria McNeil and Ella Carey. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Betty Lou Alexis will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1835 St Roch Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117 on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11 am, Father Emanuel Tanu, SVD, Celebrant. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 10 am In The Church. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating in the church is limited. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing at all times. Strictly enforced. Please sign online guestbook at www.charbonnetfuneralhome.com.
