Betty Price-Francis Obituary

Betty Jean Price-Francis departed this life on Sunday, March 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Betty aka "BJ" was born on November 29, 1948, to the late William Calvin Price and Annie Mae Hookfin-Price of Greensburg, LA. She attended Booker T. Washington High School, excelling in Home Economics where she shared her Love for baking and cooking which she inherited from her mother. Once she graduated, she then joined the work force in the World claiming her independence, by sharing her passion in the Dietary Department at Ochsner Hospital. Betty's love for people, and dedication to be the best at whatever she did was a sign of greatness headed her way. After several years at the hospital, she felt the need to spread her wings, and ventured into entrepreneurship where she opened her first business, BJ's Meals on Wheels, at The New Orleans International Airport where she prepared, and served hot lunches to the Taxi Drivers, there on weekends only. After 5 years of being a dedicated servant, God blessed her with a building and a kitchen in the Historic Vieux Carre area and that's where BJ's Restaurant and Daiquiris Shop was born. Until August 2005, that's when Hurricane Katrina raged havoc upon the city of New Orleans destroying BJ's Restaurant. Betty was preceded in death by (2) sisters Glenda Price-Maxwell, and Pamela Price-Bailey, (1) brother Kenneth Price, and (1) bonus son Harold Aaron Netter. She is survived by (1) brother Leo Price, and (3) sisters Brenda Price-Vincent, Patricia (Robert) Green, and Gaynetta (Charlie) Miller, Jr., (3) daughters Audrey Francis-Williams (Arthur Williams), Deidra M. Francis (Gilbert) Clark, Jr., and Roschelle C. Francis (Leon) Durand, III, (2) grandchildren Airelle R. Francis, David J. Francis, and (1) bonus grandson Justin Ouzenne, (4) great-grandchildren Paris L. Francis, Corielle C. Francis, Corey F. Francis and Demin DJ Wilson, (2) Godchildren Leo aka "Head" Price, and Nel'Shaun Julia Miller, (1) bonus Goddaughter Debra Cunningham, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at Second Zion Baptist Church, 2929 Second Street, NOLA.
