Beverly Carmel Love Hoffman

HOFFMAN Beverly Carmel Love Hoffman, "Memaw", passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the age of 85, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. She was a most beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Hoffman, Jr. her parents: Henry Joseph and Edna Ramos Love; and her brother, Harry. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Hoffman Vetter; her children: Charles A. Hoffman III and Gregory G. Hoffman; her grandchildren: Blaine (Kera), Eric (Frannie), Christina, Patricia, Charlene and Paige Hoffman, Amanda Nall Embree and Amy Hoffman (Clay) Willett; and her great-grandchildren: Lilah, Noah, Peyton, Landon, Kayden, Chaston, Victoria, Gabrielle, Isabella, Colin, Madison and Cole. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans (until Hurricane Katrina), first in Mid-City and then in Lakeview. She attended Sacred Heart grammar school & high school and Soule Business College. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church and active in many parish and school organizations, including the Rosary Altar Society, Mothers' Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Parents' Club, and the Chapter of the Third Order of St. Dominic. She was also active in the parents clubs of Christian Brothers School and St. Paul's School in Covington. She enjoyed her very active participation with the Lakeview Botany Guild, the Federated Council of New Orleans Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Louisiana Garden Club Federation. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Alzheimer's Residential Care Homes (ARCH), the East Jefferson Adult Day Care Center, and Serenity Hospice, who provided support and loving care during her illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at GREENWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Graveside burial services will follow the mass in Greenwood Cemetery.
