Beverly Jane Meredith

1943 - 2023

Beverly Jane Meredith made her peaceful transition on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 80 years old. Beverly was born to the late Mabel Inez Berry and Willie Meredith Sr. on April 21, 1943, in New Orleans, LA. Beverly was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, and a proud member of the United Teachers of New Orleans (UTNO) where she served until 2003. Beverly was baptized at a very early age at Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E) Church. She was a choir member for Law Street Baptist Church and Christian Bible Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. After Hurricane Katrina, she joined Franklin Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member of the Deaf and Sewing Ministries, the Heritage Choir, and remained a faithful member until her passing. Beverly was employed at The New Orleans Public Library, Xavier University of Louisiana and she retired from NOLA Public Schools (formerly Orleans Parish School Board) after 33 years. Beverly was a socialite. She enjoyed life to the fullest and she loved to sing. Beverly leaves behind her loving daughter, Ms. Gwyn Janet Meredith, and her loving grandchildren Justyn Hawkins (Ashley) and Cydnei Meredith, one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Hawkins, and one sister, Julia Griffin. Beverly also leaves behind her devoted niece Quentella Meredith Johnson, nephews, cousins Phyliss Red, Louis Bates, and Lillian Bates, extended family, and so many special friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Berry and Willie Meredith Sr., and brothers, Willie Meredith Jr., and Gerald Meredith. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans, LA 70126 for 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Rev.
