To the family:
May he R.I.P. He was a great commander to work for and always a credit to the NOPD and City of New Orleans. More than that was the fact he was a good and honest man. He was the real deal for sure. I took pride in working for this man even though it wasnt for a long period of time. The gates of heaven opened quickly for him !!!!

Billy Wayne McGaha
We lost a friend. But Billy Wayne McGaha, not William he would often say, was more than just a friend. He was also a co worker, co-FBI-NA graduate, fishing and hunting partner to many of us. He will be missed by his family and all of his friends. Our prayers are for his family whom he deeply loved.
I was recently asked, "What do you think of when you hear his name"?
After thinking a while I said, " His always smiling face, his being a mounted police officer: no, him being one of the best commanders that one could have. No, him being a co-worker, : no, his love of hunting and fishing and the out of doors: no, his decoy carving ability of which he took great pleasure in explaining to anyone who would listen: No, him always bragging about his home in the woods. No, his ability to instantly recognize a scoundrel or a friend: no, I could go on and on, but I think it was his love of his family, when I hear his name."
He will be greatly missed.

Billy, Yvonne, and their family are some of the nicest, kindest people we've ever met. Ted's memories of Billy are all fantastic ones -- many of them, not surprisingly, involving fishing! Ted can picture Billy on a boat on Toledo Bend, and on the back of Al Cahoe's boat in the Gulf of Mexico. How wonderful to know he lived a life surrounded by loving family.
Yvonne, we love you and your kids. You all are in our prayers.
Love,
Ted and Rachel Fenasci

To Billy Wayne's family:
When I was young I knew my Uncle Homer well, but I did not know Billy Wayne very well. However, I was proud to be his first cousin because of his role on the New Orleans Police Force, and simply because he was another McGaha who was contributing to society in a meaningful way. I recall that he was in fact an avid outdoorsman, and that he used to train beagles. Our sincere condolences to the family.
