Camille Bourgeois Obituary

Born February 25, 1930 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and their 7 children, at the age of 91, on February 1, 2022. Camille was born in Cut Off, La to Malee Adams and Theophile Bourgeois, Sr. He was one of eleven children. At 16 years old they moved to Marrero, La. where he lived until his last breath. In 1952 he met the love of his life, our mother, Margaret Allo. They married on February 17, 1957. Together, with God's abundant blessings they raised 7 children, Jody Wills (Wade), Julie Johns (Fred), Camille, Jr (Sheila). Mitchell, Jan Francois (Dale), Rod, Sr (Kelli) and Victor, Sr (Sheri). Our daddy was full of love for all of his family. He loved us all equally, and it was BIG!! In his actions he showed us how much he loved us. We are his greatest accomplishment. By example, he taught us all how to work hard, never give up and do the right thing. A big part of his legacy he left behind was his work ethic. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a longshoreman for 36 years. Camille also had the biggest heart, always ready to help in any capacity he could, regardless, if it was his Church, family, or friends. He would be the first one there and the last one to leave. He believed if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. The woods and hunting was a great joy for him. When his sons were little, he would carry them on his back through the bad spots of the swamp if needed. He taught them everything they know about the woods, the swamp, the bayou, hunting, how to be a man and how to pray. When they would reach their hunting spot they would remove their hats and pray before the hunt. He also taught them the sacredness of life and respect of the land. He didn't only touch his children's lives, he was a father figure to so many others. Over the past few years so many people have come forward saying how our daddy was such a huge influence in their lives. Unbeknownst to him. Not only was he an active loving parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady Church, he was a founding member of the parish. He shared a very close friendship with Fr. Richard. Working endlessly, especially during the early years of the Church fairs which continued into his senior years. He was also one of the founding men of PARD playground. Physically tilling the ground to create the fields. Camille was a man of very few words. He was an incredible example of a devoted Catholic, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Our father could do anything, except paint, he was a messy painter. LOL. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Allo Bourgeois. Loving sister Bessie Bourgeois Beroular. Camille and Bessie had the sweetest love and bond for each other. Sisters-in-law Helen Sievers Bourgeois and Mary Allo Dugas. He is also survived by his 7 children and their spouses, 26 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 9 of his siblings, Sidney, Inez, Annie, Louis, Beulah, Bernice, Irvin, Eddie, Theophile, Jr. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 6pm until 12 Midnight. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 3500 Ames Blvd., Marrero, LA from 9:30am until 11am. I remember the kind soft spoken gentle man Mr. Camille while attending VOL and playing sports at PARD. He was certainly a father figure and role model for so many neighborhood kids. Sending thoughts and prayers Bourgeois family.
