Carmelite Hubert Obituary

CARMELITE GENEVEVE BENERITO HUBERT, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Mandeville, La., for the past 43 years, passed away on June 8, 2015, two months shy of her 105th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband Benoit A. Hubert, Jr. of 52 years and parents, Felix and Annie Renton Benerito, and brothers Felix P. and Frank H. Benerito. She is survived by daughter Lynnette Hubert Soules and her husband Peter, and daughter Letty Jane Hubert Clark (late William N.). She is also survived by grandchildren, William N. Clark, Jr., Robin Clark Pigg, and Scott H. Clark along with 7 great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, past President of the OLL Altar Society and member of Fun & Faith Club, and the Mandeville Ladies Sewing Circle. She was awarded the St. Louis Medallion. On her 100th birthday, she was honored with an apostolic blessing from Pope Benedict XVI, and birthday congratulations from President Obama and Mayor Villere. An accomplished seamstress and needle worker, she repaired OLL altar linens and sewed many a button or hem on the priests' vestments and clothes. She always had a very positive outlook on life, reminding others to have the RMA- right mental attitude. She attributed her longevity to red wine - "only one glass a day". She was very generous to many charities and offered her services throughout her life to taking care of ill relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, La. 70420 at 12:00 noon. Visitation at the church from 10:00 am until Mass time. Interment will follow at Mandeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Masses can be offered or a donation made to Notre Dame Hospice, 1000 Howard Ave, New Orleans, La. 70113.

Letty, Lynette, & Peter,

It was such a privilege and honor to be among Carmelite's friends. Our whole family loved her. She was so special and cute as a button. She could light up the room or patio whenever she was there.

At her wonderful 100th birthday party, I was totally amazed by her strength and stamina. She stood up the whole time greeting and visiting all her friends and relatives.

God broke the mold with Carmelite. I know she is happily reuniting with her husband and all her relatives who preceded her. I am certain God was glad to welcome her home.

We loved her and we love y'all. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Amos, Aurele, Amos,III, Arthur, Mack, & Jene Cormier, and Meran & Chad Simonson

HE Will Raise Her Up On Eagle's Wings,

Bear Her On The Breath Of Dawn,

Make Her To Shine Like The Sun,

And Hold Her In The Palm Of HIS Hand.

An Old Friend.
