I just learned of Dr. Roland's passing, and I am heartbroken. I met her at an LCA conference when I volunteered to proctor her session. She invited me to participate and then spoke with me at length after the session. She was very encouraging to me regarding my future career interests (I was a non-traditional graduate student at the time). When she moved back to Louisiana, we ran into each other again at the LCA conference and she remembered me and asked how I was doing as a new professional. I really admired Dr. Roland and had hoped to enjoy her leadership and her presence here in Louisiana for many years. I'm so sorry for the great loss that her passing represents.

Catherine leaves an indescribable void for the many life´s she has touched along her journey. When I think of Cathie, compassionate and brave come to mind.

After reading the many accolades, achievements and various positions Catherine has held during her career, it is apparent that those in the academic communities have lost someone who was a true humanitarian and a gift to all who were lucky enough and blessed to have known her.

Over her lifetime, Catherine has been recognized for a plethora of successful vocations but among them all....she will be remembered for her genuine concern for helping others.

My memory of Cathie will always be her "thoughtfulness, kindness and joyful spirit, a positive energy....She will be missed by many.
May she Rest In Peace.

Sending my love along with my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Love & Respect,
Cousin Linda
