A native of Gonzales, LA, Brother Blouin was born on April 12, 1925. After service in the US Army from 1944-46 and in the Navy from 1946-50, he began his postulancy in the Society of Jesus [the Jesuits] at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, LA, in December of 1961, entering the novitiate on June 1, 1962. He professed final vows as a brother on August 15, 1977. Brother Blouin served generously in a large number of Jesuit communities and works in the South during his years in the Society. Ill health occasioned his assignment to Ignatius Residence in 2001 and then to Our Lady of Wisdom in 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles B. Blouin and Dena Braud Blouin, and by his brother, F.P. Blouin, and his sisters, Mrs. M.J. Reine, Mrs. J.E. Gautreau, Mrs. H.P. Marchand, Mrs. Honore Pertuis, Mrs. Bentley Berteu, Mrs. Marion Aubin, Mrs. Earl Thompson, and Mrs. L.C. Melville. His passing is mourned by his nieces and nephews and by his Jesuit brothers. There will be visitation at 10 AM on Friday, August 14, at Holy Spirit Church [6201 Stratford Pl., New Orleans], followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment will take place that afternoon at the Jesuit cemetery at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau. In recognition of Brother Blouin's service as a religious and in order to provide for the care of elder Jesuits and the training of young Jesuit seminarians and brothers, donations are requested for "The Jesuits," 710 Baronne St., Ste B., New Orleans, LA 70113.
