Charles Cook Obituary

COOK Charles Dean Cook passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 in Covington, LA. He was born in Nocona, TX on October 4, 1948 to the late Cordell and Vera Jo Alcorn Cook. The beloved husband of Leslie Basanez Cook, he is survived by six children: Dan Cook (Angela), Brad and Chris Cook, Ryan Buck, Katie Fuller (Allen) and Kyle Buck (Meredith); three grandchildren: Christian Buck, Colin Cook and Jacks Fuller. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Jo Anne and Ed Basanez. Charlie and Leslie blended their families and made a home in Covington 25 years ago when they married. Charlie was a very devoted and loving husband and father to their six children. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from North Texas University in Denton, TX. Charlie was the Senior Vice-President with X-Chem in Harahan, LA for more than 25 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. A wake is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM. Visiting hours will begin Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow services. Please sign the family guestbook on-line at www.ejfieldingfh.com.

I haven't seen Charlie in 42 years but I've often thought about him. We were fraternity brothers and shared a room one semester in the fraternity house. I'll always remember is heart-warming smile and that beautiful Olds 442. My condolences to his loved ones.

Mrs. Cook - I know you don't know who I am, but I've dealt with Charlie for many years. I am a competitor to X Chem but have always had a great working relatioonship with Charlie when dealing with him at industrial meetings, etc. I always thought of him as a true gentlemen. I am very sorry for your loss.
