Charles Jones Obituary

Sergeant Charles Vincent Jones, Sr., a United States Marine Veteran, age 61 was born in New Orleans, LA peacefully passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. Charles graduated from John McDonogh Senior High School where he was the drum major in the band. Sergeant Charles moved away from New Orleans to pursue his career in the Marines, during his extensive time in the service he became a baker and he also earned numerous medals such as the Navy Achievement, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Rifleman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Mast Medal. Charles was the loving husband of Myra Bradley Jones. Beloved father of Charla, Charles Putty, Jr., Kiera, Devante Jones, Leroy Henry, Robert Bennett, Deron Williams, and Niayla Bradley. Devoted brother of Denise, Doug McGee, Joseph, Senoria Jones, Demetria and Vernal Johnson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Marguerite Clark and Wilbert Jones, Sr; his step-father Clanders Clark; his brother Wilbert Jones, Jr. and his nephew Jamal Jones. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70113 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment Southeast Louisiana Veteran Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, LA 70460.
