I just saw this obituary when I was looking through. I used to see him at La Pines all the time with that big smile on his face reading his paper. Sending prayers to his family.

A wonderful man who taught me so much. Everything in moderation, especially moderation, one of his quotes. People would come up to him and say they had a problem, Chuck’s response was YOU have a problem. Attempting to get everyone to think for themselves, with a little goading. A Wonderful man I’ll carry in my thoughts. He was a great mentor to me taking his position in west Africa he would say “they have all kinds of computers around here but it’s hard to find some paper and a pencil”. A teacher and a rare man that ran on common sense, so hard to find these days. A real person in all respect.. He was truly a scientist.

I knew Chuck for only a short while, but he was a kind and gentle soul. He will be missed by his many friends and family. May we all find solace in the many happy memories of our interactions with him, as we struggle forward without him.

I was blessed to know Chuck the short time we were neighbors on Bayou Liberty and, besides being an awfully nice fellow to be in the presence of, I could tell he had lived a life in full - educated , knowledgable, an exacting researcher, easy going, a lover of the symphony, civic-minded, a practitioner of yoga and tennis, a curious explorer of his world, a husband and family man and much, much more. We'll see you on the other side my friend.

It was fun dancing with Chuck at the Ozone Square danced. He will be missed at the dances and I know his family is missing him terribly. God bless the family and RIP Chuck.
