Charles Ortemond Obituary

Charles Ray Ortemond, 63, of Lafayette, passed away at 12:15 AM Tuesday, January 04, 2005, in the South Cameron Memorial Hospital, in Cameron, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM Thursday, January 6, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in Erath. Entombment will follow in the Church Mausoleum. Born on September 1, 1941, in Abbeville. Charles is the son of Landis 'Noon' and Lula Belanger Ortemond. He was a Mud Technician, working for Newpark Drilling, for 8 years. Charles had previously been self employed and had attended the Seminary for four years, and was a former member of the National Guard. He loved basketball, and was very active with the Louisiana Stars Basketball Team and the American Amateur Athletics Union. Survivors include his daughter, Raquel Ortemond Chustz and husband Andrew of Prairieville, LA.; brother, Leon Ortemond and wife Diana of Erath; Grandchildren, Christian Chustz and Camille Chustz, both of Prairieville, LA.; niece, Christy Ortemond Franques and husband Andre of Erath; nephews, Lance Ortemond and wife Kelly of Youngsville, and David Ortemond of Erath. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at David Funeral Home, 209 E. Putnam, in Erath. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service. David Funeral Home of Erath, 337-937-0405, is in charge of artangements.
