Charles Phillips Obituary

PHILLIPS Charles (Chaz) Edward Phillips Jr., 88 of Madisonville, LA died on Monday, July 27, 2015, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA. At an early age, he was given the nickname "Grinny" because of his continuous, warm smile. Born December 15, 1926 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Charles Edward Phillips, Sr. and Carrie L. Phillips. Survived by his many loving and caring family members and friends. Charlie served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a 1949 graduate of LSU, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He retired after a long career in pharmaceutical sales. Chaz was an avid hunter, fisherman and, of course, an LSU fan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 01, 2015 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Saturday, August 01, 2015 from 1:00 PM to service time. In Lieu of flowers donation may be made to either St. Jude Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org) or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/en/donate).
