I'm so sorry for your lost. I was so sad to hear of Chunacy death. I remember when he was born. He was the cutiest kid and always was smiling. Once he got big he would follow me and Natasha aound, we couldn't keep him off our feet. I can still picture him playing and getting on our nerves as we sat on Congress street talking outside. Funny how times flies. I will forever remember him. He was like a lillte brother to me. Some people come into your life and never leave, even if u move some where else.

From the halls of St. Mary's of the Angles to the yards of Southern University. I enjoyed every minute of the time we had together. I regret that due to being in Afghanistan I have to mourn so far from people who can help me deal with the lost of my friend since 3rd grade but my heart goes out and stays with all the family & friends of Chauncy.

Life is a Vapor. We never know when we the last time we talk to someone will be the last time we will ever hear them speak again. I still today get a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think of August 13, 2007. In the neighborhood Chop and I played touch-football, hide-and-go-seek, basketball, walked to and from school every morning and evening, road bikes and so on. Basically what I’m saying is “we grew up together”. Chop was so strong mentally and physical (for a little skinny guy), so full of energy, life and spirit. As time went on life took us on two different paths, however because of our childhood foundation whenever we talked we would just pick up where we left off. We never missed a beat. Chop, today I sit here with wonderful memories of the first “peer” who influenced my life in a positive way. I also sit here with regrets that we didn’t hang out as much as we should have in our adult years as we did in our childhood years. But nevertheless, I do have a chance to honor our Friendship by looking out for your children.

I can only remember Chauncy as being the cutest kid on Congress St. He would come to the store we once owned on congress St. with his sister Kim and he was always smiling and polite. We moved from the neighborhood and that was the last time I saw that cute lil kid. I'm so sorry for ya'll lost but he is in a much better place. May God strengthen all of you at this time.

CHOP, I HAVE KNOWN YOU FOR 8 YEARS AND ALTHOUGH WE HAVENT SEEN EACH OTHER IN A FEW YEARS,I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD RUN INTO YOU IN WALMART LIKE I HAD BEFORE. THE MEMORY I WANT TO KEEP IS YOUR SMILE, AND YOUR LAUGH. WHEN I WOULD HEAR "WHAT'S UP MO" BEHIND ME I NEVER HAD TO TURN AROUND TO SEE WHO IT WAS. WHEN I RECEIVED THE NEWS THAT YOU WERE NOLONGER WITH US, I COULDNT BELIEVE IT, AND STILL DON'T. YOUR WIFE, YOUR KIDS, AND YOUR FAMILY ARE TRULY BLESSED TO HAVE HAD SOMEONE AS WONDERFUL AS YOU TO LOVE SO DEARLY. AS I HELD YOU IN MY HEART AS A FRIEND, I WILL HOLD YOUR FAMILY AS WELL. WHAT WILL THE WORLD DO WITHOUT CHOP?! GOD TOOK YOU BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT THEY ARE STRONG BECAUSE OF YOU, AND THATS WHAT ALL OF US ARE LIFT BEHIND TO HELP THEM WITH. YOU WILL BE FOREVER MISSED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN! MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOUR FAMILY.KEEP YOUR EYES ON US ALL, FOR WE SHALL MEET AGAIN!

To the Smith Family my heart goes out to you at this time. I know chauncy since F.w. Gregory and Kennedy and he was a very nice and sweet person. The parents did a very good job in rasing him to be the man he was. I am truly sorry that he is gone from your lives but not your heart.

To the family:

I am a former teammate of Chauncey from the John F. Kennedy Cougar family and it really saddended me to hear this news. Especially since Chauncey was one of the few black men in New Orleans doing something positive with himself. We spent numerous days sweating together, competing together, and through it all he always had a smile on his face.I havent seen Chauncey in years, but the last time I saw him he had a smile on his face. This tragedy has saddened your immediate family and also your JFK Cougar family. My prayers are with the entire family and I promise the family Chauncey will never be forgotten.

August 21, 2007

To Chop:
Man, this goes back to the halls of St. Mary of the Angels Elementary School. Back to the joke y'all played on us pretending you were Jodeci on the loudspeaker. Back to catching the bus from Kennedy. Back to the chats at LSU rec center while waiting on 'next' for basketball. Back to just some weeks ago at Essence of '07. You were truly someone to behold.

To the family of Chauncy:
Although life can be a beast sometimes, one good thing about it is the ability to believe. I believe that true matters of the heart transcend time, space, and circumstance. But I also believe that guilt, regret, and pain has no place "up there". As a result, we shouldn't dwell on the shouldas, couldas, and wouldas, but instead, speak on 'what I did', 'am doing', and 'plan to do' for the betterment of He whom we serve, and He in return will show us mercy and grace. Trouble don't last always and joy will come in the morning. To you, my deepest sympathies.

This is truly a hard time for you but as a reminder the earth is GODS garden, and he doesn't only come by to pick out the weeds. Every now and then he comes by and picks a flower and Chauncy was truly that.

Big Chop (C2):
"What's Up My Baby"... It is so unreal to me that someone so vibrant and full of life has been laid to rest. I appreciate having the opportunity to meet U and know U. U were truly a blessing to all those whom U came in contact with because ur spirit was absolutely wonderful. I know that U will be the guardian angel for those U love and continue to smile down on us all from heaven.

To the family:
My thoughts and prayers are with U at this time. Loss is such a hard thing to comprehend no matter when in this life we encounter it. God will never give U more in a day then U can bare. Hold on to God's unchanging hand in the midst of a crisis and he will grant U strength to make it through...

It took awhile for it to register in my mind that your gone. I try my hardest not to questioned what happened(why you); but it's so hard when you're used to seeing and talking to that person. Looking at your number in my phone, knowing I'll never get those Mondays calls for Tuesday's Steak Night. "Big Chop, I will miss you So Much." My heart goes out to the Smith Family; your son, brother, father, fiance was a wonderful friend.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

To The Family of Chauncy Smith

While there is nothing that I can say to help you ease your sorrow,
take comfort in the knowledge that there will always be tomorrow.

I can not comprehend just how sad you must be feeling,
the pain within your heart takes time to start the healing.

Let the memories of the years you’ve shared wash over you heart and soul, let the knowledge that you are in everyone's prayers, help you to console.

Let his spirit fill you with strength and love may it help the pain decrease, as each day that brings a glorious dawn creates an inner peace.

With my most Sincere and Deepest Condolences for your loss.

One of his geatest accomplishments was receiving his Bachelor Degree from S.U. I am so proud that he crossed my path. Chauncy will always be a part of precious memories to cherish a life time. I will continue to lift you in my prayer.

Peacefully, sleep comes to a dear, beloved heart. Quietly, we understand the time has come to part. Tenderly, the love shines on -- a never-ending light. Gratefully, we feel its warmth and
say, Sweet dreams, good-night.
Keeping the family in prayer.

A dedication to Chauncy (Chop)
There will never be a day, that will ever come our way. That we wont think of you Chop, you used to say "Hey My Baby" and that impression just wont ever stop. You made many of us smile and of course you made many of us cry, but the reason you're no longer with us we still keep wondering why? Your family indeed has the deepest sympathy from those who knew you best, but your character was so genuine you even get respect from those who knew you much less. You were a good man, son, father, cousin, nephrew, uncle and most of all a genuine friend, but in life all good things must come to an end. All of us were truly sad to see you go, but God was ready for you to walk through heaven's door. This is not good-bye for we shall all meet with you again my dear friend but for now we must part and let our seperate paths begin. Chop at 30 you accomplished what some will never be able to do cause when you left this earth you left EVERYONE with pleasant memories of you.

Sincerely,
Weeze

Chop,
Your smile and friendship will be missed. You have touched so many people in a positive way and made so many lifes a little better. Being one with God is your reward, again you will be missed.

Losing someone we love is always hard to accept and the pain seems to hard to bear. But there is a place in your heart where the memories of Chop will never fade away. So when you feel like giving up just think of Chop and all of the good times you all shared and one day those memories will be comfort to you.
You are forever in my prayers,

My prayers are extended to the family of Chauncy. You rarely come across good guys who kept it real at all times, he would tell you GOOD if good and BAD if bad. Just know family this is not a time to mourn this should be a celebration. Chauncey is in heaven chilling with his white linen outfit, with the fresh shades watching over us.
