Cherry Undag Obituary

Cherry Lua Undag passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 4:15 pm surrounded by her loving family. She was 60 years old. She received the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church. Cherry was the loving wife of Aurelio T. Undag, Jr. and the beautiful and beloved mother of her only son, Christian Andrew Undag. She was one of the eight children of Lolita Concepcion Lua Schulze and the late Patricio C. Lua Sr., both originally from Cebu, Philippines. She was the loving and caring sister of Iris (deceased), Irma, June, May, Fritz, Rex, and Judy, sister-in-law to Peter Allan, Nicky Aranas, Maricor Lua, Marilou Lua, and Eddie Espiritu. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and supportive friends. Cherry graduated from Cebu City Hospital, School of Nursing, Cebu City, Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Class of 1977. In 1980, she joined the family in Louisiana, United States, and worked full time at LSU Health Sciences Center. After 27 years of service at LSU, she retired as Administrative Assistant. Cherry can only be described as the embodiment of unconditional love. Always putting the needs of others before her own, her selfless grace and endearing compassion shined exuberantly through her deeds and her words. She was revered by family and friends for her incomparable humility and her exemplary strength. Her unforgettable loving spirit has always left a lasting impression on all whom have been blessed to meet her. To her family, she was the cornerstone, the backbone, and the glue that held everyone together, always leading with love and setting the example on how to love. To everybody else, she welcomed them into her heart as if they were family. Cherry wholeheartedly lived up to her roles as a mother, wife, daughter, sibling, and more to the highest degree. The joy, cheer, courage, comfort, tenderness, strength, and unconditional love Cherry shared with all of us during her lifetime will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. May she rest in peace now that she has departed from this world, for she has earned her spot in the Kingdom of Heaven! Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 9AM until 1:15PM. Our deepest sympathy to Cherry's family, Aurelio & Christian, and the Lua family. She is the sweetest, kindest person I know. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to visit her & her sister May last December. Seeing her after so many years was a big blessing.

I will never forget her sweet beautiful smile & sweet loving voice. She will always be in my prayers.

I met Cherry when we worked together in Retail. We were both part-timer and she was one of the first to greet me with a smile. I loved to hear her laugh but most of all she was so kind and so giving and willing to help you in every way possible. Sometimes we would give our sales to someone else because we had other jobs and we knew we had another way out. When we had a big sale and she would make her quota, she would let others have the sales to make their quota. We especially did that with each other. Cherry was one of the most honest, caring person I had ever known. I loved her spirit and will never forget her.

I met Cherry in Pacifica, California in July 1987. She was so much fun to be around and to laugh with. I will miss her but I know she is in a much better place now free from pain and suffering. I can picture her in Heaven with her beautiful smile looking down on us.

From the first day I met Ms.Cherry over 5 years ago she welcomed me with open arms to the LSUHSC Family. She graced me with her friendly and overjoyed spirit. She is still like a second mom to me. While we worked together she made sure I would eat and take care of my priorities accordingly. I will miss her here on earth but, I know she lives on in everybody she met/touched wholehearted like myself. I love you Ms. Cherry and may you rest now. And to the Undag/Lua Family my prayers are with you guys more than ever.

Every once in a while in life you come across a person that really touches your heart. I met a lot of people in my 40 plus years in retail, but there was only a few times that you came across someone who was as special as Cherry. She was a person that overflowed with love of family and friends. I say friends because I don't think she ever considered anybody she knew as anything else. She was always most cheerful and positive in any challenge that was presented to her. Many times she talked me through difficult situations. She always lifted your spirits, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She appreciated any little thing you could do to help her when she wanted to spend special occasions with her wonderful husband, adoring son and any family member. Her family was the center of her world . Her passing will leave a hole in all our hearts. Rest in peace my friend! Until we meat again!

I met Cherry on August 7, 2000 as a new employee to LSU. Her sincere embrace was genuine and warm. She was such a loving and caring person to everyone that she came in touch with. Cherry, my memory of you is etch in stone: our lunch time (LaMadelene)and our talk about family, I'll never forget you. May the strength of God see your family through the tough times. Be Blessed!!!

My sincere regrets go out to Cherry's family. She provided so much to so many in a very quiet and gracious manner. She was a beautiful person who always met you with a smile and a willingness to help in any way she could. It was delight to interact with her at LSUHSC when I would go to both the 6th floor and the 7th floor where she worked.
Memories of her will always bring a smile and warm thoughts.
It was apparent that she loved her family and particularly her son whom she was very proud of. She will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace dear friend.

After reading Cherry's obituary, I have to wholeheartedly agree about every wonderful word written about such a beautiful person. I know Cherry from working with her at LSUHSC. I did not get a chance to know her well until after Katrina, when I was still suffering the loss of my own mother. I loved hearing all about her family. When I found out I was having a boy, she told me the most wonderful stories about her own son, Christian. She was so proud of him and the mention of him made her smile and just light up.

My condolences to Cherry's husband, son, family, and all who knew and loved her. She has left us way too soon, and we will miss her here.

Sending you all prayers.
