Memorial services will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at a 1:00 p.m. in Living Glory Church (200 E. Butcher Switch Rd., Lafayette, LA 70507) for Paul Chester Schott, age 77, who passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette. The Rev. Carlton Benton, pastor of Living Glory Church, will officiate at the services. Mr. Chester, born July 7, 1946, was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Carencro. He was a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge in 1964. A veteran of the military, Mr. Chester proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and later went on to get his Bachelor's degree from LSU. He worked in the lumber industry managing Hill Behan Lumber Company for 25 years. He later retired from commercial sales at Lowe's. Mr. Chester took great pride in being a father and grandfather, he always prioritized providing for his family. He especially loved going to his grand children's sporting events. He loved to read, listening to music, and always enjoyed a good laugh; his corny jokes were always something he enjoyed bestowing upon his family. Mr. Chester spent his Saturdays & Sundays watching LSU and Saints! Survivors include his three daughters, Catherine "Cassie" Boutte and her husband, Darrell Boutte, Gabrielle Schott and her husband, Donald Killinger, Jr., and Sarah Alvarado and her husband, Jose Juan Alvarado; his favorite son, Dylan Schott and his wife Haili Arsenment Schott; ten grandchildren, Caleb Schott and his wife, Alyce, Micah Schott, Vandah Schmidt and his wife, Molly, Tilly Schmidt, Chelsie Thibodeaux, Maddox Schott, Arius Schott, Phoenix Alvarado, Coco Schott, and Honey Schott, and a grand dog, Buster Browns; four great grandchildren, Daisy Jones, Clover Schott, Copper Schott, and Everson Schmidt; three brothers, Tommy Schott and his wife, Susan, Ben Schott and his wife, Margaret, Larry Schott and his wife, Anne; three sisters, Mary Isabelle Brzycki and her husband, Lenny, Mary Ellen Schott, and Gretchen McGoffin and her husband, Mark; his Godchild, Stuart Schott, and his best friend and the mother of his children, Cathy Coco Schott; and Aunt Leah Schott, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard John Schott and the former Mary Isabelle Robb. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Living Glory Church (200 E. Butcher Switch Rd., Lafayette, LA 70507) from 11:00 am Monday and will continue until service time on Monday. Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, (337) 896-6366, is in charge of arrangements.
