Constance Campbell Obituary

Constance Elise Campbell left this earth peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born in New Orleans on April 20, 1955, Connie lived her life fully in the city that she loved. Connie was a vibrant woman and rarely seen without a smile on her face. She had a laugh that came from deep within and when she laughed you couldn't help but laugh with her. She was also a woman of grace and impeccable taste. Quite frankly, Connie had class. She loved all things beautiful and had a sassy southern style. Absolutely no one could more elegantly wear an Yvonne LaFleur chapeau more so than Connie Campbell. She loved art, wine and celebrating the finer things in life with her friends and family. She was the most gracious hostess and loved to entertain. Anyone fortunate enough to spend time with Connie in her beloved "little blue house" undoubtedly had the time of their life. Every occasion was a memorable one. Connie was petite, beautiful and a lady, but was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She would work for hours on end in her garden. She had strength beyond her size and never let her tiny frame keep her from the most daunting physical tasks. She always had a "project" and invested endless hours of sweat equity in her gorgeous home and garden. Connie's hard work ethic carried out in every aspect of her life. She adored travel and was able to manifest that love into a highly successful career. Connie was employed by the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau for twenty-five years and was very well respected in her field. She was the senior sales manager handling the international market for the CVB and traveled abroad extensively promoting her city. Connie was immensely strong in her faith. Praying the rosary brought her peace and at least one rosary could be found at any given time in every room of her house. To those she left behind, take solace in that faith. She is now amongst the angels with those loved ones who predeceased her - her equally beautiful mother, Gertrude Mandich Campbell, and her brother, Michael Clarence Campbell. Amongst the many who loved her and remain, she is survived by her father, Charles Joseph Campbell, her loving brother, John Mandich Campbell, Sr., John's wife, Sheri, and their three children, Anna Sable Campbell, John Mandich "Jack" Campbell II and Grant Joseph Campbell. Connie was proud to be their "CC" and these children brought much light into her life. Connie is also survived by three half-sisters, Judy Campbell, Heather Keilich (Richard), Ginger Campbell Betz, and brother-in-law and dear friend, Clyde Betz. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and godson, Connor Landrieu. Connie also leaves behind many close friends, most of whom were very much like family. These and all friends and family are invited to attend a memorial mass at Our Lady of the Rosary (Holy Rosary) Church, Friday, June 3, 2016, 3368 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation begins in the church at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie's name may be made to the Sister Dulce Foundation, 17560 George O'Neal Road, Baton Rouge, LA, 70817. Per Connie's wishes, internment is private and there will be no reception after the service. However, we ask each of you who loved Connie, wherever you may be around the world, to raise a glass in remembrance of the beautifully radiant lady she was. I will never forget traveling through Europe with you oh so many years ago and you showed up at the airport carrying a hatbox. Seriously--it was so you! And I remember the Immigration officer who called you Scarlett O'Hara when he saw it--right before he had you searched. (That's a whole other story!) Your sense of style, your spirit of adventure, your courage and your laugh will always be with me. I was awed by your truly exquisite taste and your grace. You will be missed by many. Here's to you little friend--Much love--Mary

Connie's first trip to Italy...quite an adventure!

Connie will never be forgotten! She was a true inspiration, a bright light and one of the most generous and positive spirits I have ever met. I feel privileged to have known her and I will always love her. Journey on, sweet CC, and be at peace.

My favorite memory of Connie was when she told me she wanted a new bike but it had to be white. I said "why white"? She told me "so I'll look tan riding it".
My heartfelt condolences to her freinds and family.
