Corbett Ourso Obituary

OURSO Corbett L. Ourso, Sr. age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Nashville, TN at 5:46pm on Thursday, October 19th, 2011. Corbett was born on October 17, 1925 in White Castle, LA. Corbett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey Campo Ourso; his 4 children: Deborah (Jim) Usry, Priscilla (Larry) Voss, Nancy (Steve) Parsons, and Corbett Ourso, Jr. (Kay). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grand-children. Corbett was the son of Manuel Ernest Ourso and Eva Oufnac Ourso. He is survived by his older brother, Roy Ourso and his younger sister, Jacqueline Ourso Hines. After service in World War II as a U.S. Marine, Corbett obtained a degree in Pharmacy from Loyola University in New Orleans and was granted an honorary Doctor of Pharmacy Degree also from Loyola University. In addition, Corbett was recognized for his contributions to organizations including the American Pharmaceutical Association, National Pharmaceutical Council and the National Association of Retail Druggists. Corbett retired from Merck & Co, Inc. after over 40 years of distinguished service. He began his career as a Professional Representative and was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility including District Manager and Director of Pharmacy Affairs. During his career he received multiple awards for outstanding performance. He had many outside interests including the study of law and was an avid reader. He was a former member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, LA. Corbett is remembered as loving and devoted husband, father, son, and mentor. He will be greatly missed by those who were blessed by having known him. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at Leitz-Eagen Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA, Phone (504) 888-8440. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
