Daisy Parker Obituary

PARKER Mrs. Daisy Lavern Parker, born on August 18, 1915 was welcomed into the arms of God on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Hamilton Medical Center Hospice in Dalton, Georgia. Daughter of the late Frisby Johnson and Ella Calvin Johnson. Wife of the late Clarence Henry Parker. Sister Parker was a graduate of the Tensas Parish Training School. In the mid-1930s, she graduated from the Louisiana Negro Normal and Industrial Institute, now known as Grambling State University. For several years, she was employed as a school teacher. She later worked as a seamstress for the Rutter Rex Company. She was a member of the Law Street Baptist Church, the Women's Auxiliary, the Beautifying Auxiliary, and the Law Benevolent Association. She also belonged to a Women's social club, Clouet and People To cherish her memory, she leaves two grandsons Reginald Johnson and Royce Johnson, two great-grandsons Marcellus Johnson and Miles Johnson, a son-in-law James Johnson, and step-nephew William Bigbee. Two sisters Mary Snowden and Ella Bivens (Frank Sr.); nieces Deborah Patterson, Beverly Brown, Sandra Jupiter, Wanda Bowman; nephew Frank Bivens Jr.; great nieces Angela McCon, Tamika Coppock, Deslina Glaze, Shevan Jones; and great nephews Kentrell Bivens Sr., Juan Jupiter, Jovan Jupiter, Richard Bowman III, and Terrell Carter as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her step-daughter Mamie Marcelle Parker Johnson, sisters Cornelius Johnson, Rosie Johnson, nephew Alfred Johnson, and nephew-in-law Charles Patterson Sr. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastors, Officers and Members of Law Street Baptist Church are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Law Street Baptist Church, 3132 Law Street from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 am. Interment Resthaven Memorial Park.
