Daniel W. Parker, III (Dan the Man from Harahan) passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11:01 PM. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Nickens Parker. He is also survived by his sons David Daniel Parker (Mary), James (Jimmy) Parker, Sr. (Lisa), Stephen Parker and Michael Parker, Sr. (Michelle) and preceded in death by son Daniel W. Parker, IV (Doo-Doo). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Danny was born August 29, 1940 in New Orleans to parents Daniel W. Parker, II and Carolyn Weir Parker. Danny has one living sibling, Patricia Blue, and preceded in death were siblings James Parker and Eugenia (Genie) Parker. He was a graduate of De La Salle High School Class of 1958. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Local 130 for 63 years and worked for Fisk Electric for many years. He was also an avid board member of Belle Chasse State School for special needs children for many years, where his son Doody attended school. He played Santa Claus for the children, handed out Christmas gifts, Easter baskets and organized a fair for the children to enjoy each year. Danny was a very kind and generous man, loved by everyone who met him. He will be remembered for his many jokes and caring nature. Services will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 At L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA 70062. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.
