Darrin Lee "Captain Dagwood" Grimes

Darrin Lee Grimes "Captain Dagwood" was born on December 1, 1959 and passed away the evening of December 1, 2015. Darrin turned 56 the day he returned home. Darrin lived a good life. He was a riverboat pilot (captain) on the Mississippi River. This afforded him a life of doing things and going places many can only dream of. He enjoyed traveling to visit family, riding motorcycles and fishing, but most of all enjoyed being Santa Claus to many family and friends. Captain Dagwood as cousin Suzie said, "was a little crazy and eccentric", but that was part of his charm which we all loved so much. Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Lyle A. Grimes; his niece, Danielle Grimes; and his great nephew, Brayden Grimes. He is survived by his mother, Gloria R. Grimes; his brothers, Lyle B. Grimes (Pu Juan) and David E. Grimes (Donna); his nieces, Lauren, Lindsey and Tina Grimes; his great nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Christopher, Caden and Savannah; and his longtime girlfriend, Kathy Craig. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
