David Hance Obituary
He was being treated for cancer for about a year.
After learning of Hance's diagnosis, the "Smite" developers at Hi-Rez Studios organized marathon gaming streams to raise funds to defray Hance's cancer-treatment costs. The developers also added a unique avatar, “Allied Strong,” to "Smite." The video game is played on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Hance's pro team, Luminosity, is selling Allied's jersey and donating the profits to cancer research. The "Smite" personality who goes by the Twitter handle DMBrandon is one of the many professional gamers promoting Allied's T-shirts, which are available at Teespring.com, to raise money for the player's family.

Hance, who was born and raised in New York City, was living in Georgia. He started playing "Smite" in 2013 as part of teams including compLexity and EnVyUs. Later, he joined forces with Luminosity Gaming.
Hance retired from competitive play after receiving his cancer diagnosis. He became a caster for Hi-Rez Studios, the video game developer, then returned for Season 4, joining Luminosity Gaming as a substitute and streamer.

I miss you every day. I still think about you and I wish you were still here. I hate that you're gone. I can't even log into SMITE anymore because I know your name will be right there waiting for me to see, and it hurts so bad. Grief comes in waves but it has not gotten easier to move on, I just wish you would come back.

I Remember when watching Smite Launch tournament, I was rooting so hard for team SNIPE, especially their ADC, Allied. I used his videos as a guide and cornerstone for my gaming skills back in the day. I recently came back from a hiatus and learned of his passing. You won't be forgotten. Here's to you... One of the greatest MOBA players of all time, but also, an everlasting living proof of willpower and perseverance.

David was a warrior , my son Justin & I watched him every day till the last . He did not die ... he passed to another spiritual gaming level and will not be forgotten! The spirit and drive this young man had was magical. I miss seeing you every day. I watched him throughout my Cancer journey and admired him immensely. RIP David! This kid was awesome! He was one of my step-son's best friends all the way through school. He was over to the house often and he was always upbeat and would just light up a room with his smile. He and my step son would always tell me they were going to be professional gamers and I would just laugh it off as kids being kids. Well this kid showed me and the world he was serious about what he wanted and he obviously worked his tail off to do it! Truly an inspiration to all that knew him. To his family please accept my condolences and God bless everyone that has a heavy heart over our loss. Godspeed David! Gone but obviously not forgotten. Put that CD in and jam!

I met David a few years ago when he came to MA to hang out with my son, a Smite teammate. He was a very nice young man.
As a Mother you watch your child grow, learn new things and develop their personality. You have hopes and dreams of what they will become and how they could make this world a better place. Even though he was taken much to soon, I believe those dreams came true for you with David. He touched so many lives around the world with his game play and streaming. He made people smile, laugh and probably an opposing team cry now and then. The eSports community, his Smite family and his followers are all better people for having known him. Thank you for sharing him with the world if only for a little while.

For the family of David Hance, I want to sincerely give my condolences. What a difficult time it is for the family to cope through this difficult time but I want to assure you when I come across obituaries as these it saddens me even more so because he was only so young. But with his situation he didn't give up hope. Although he knew of the possible outcome, I'm sure he maintained a positive attitude..what a joy he was to all his peers because it takes a strong minded person to go through such times.. so he will be an inspiration to me. I want to share a very beneficial bible verse that will hopefully give hope to whomever reads this. 1Thessalonians 4:14,15.. here
it briefly mentions if u have belief that Jesus died and rose up with life again, God will also do the same for those whom have passed away in death as well... so although this is a tough time right now it's a joy and very comforting to know we will see our dead love ones again.. I will always remember the laughs that he brought me during his streams and the inspiration with his gaming skills. I remember last week that i was in one of his streams and he replied to some of my comments and ranted. I enjoyed this of course, but i will forever cherish this moment especially because it was the last time i got to hear or see allied. Many of us from his twitch community still use the chat in hopes that allied is getting some of our messages up in heaven. May allied rest forever in peace and away from his pain. We miss you allied.

The last message David ever sent me was "love u". It's the best way to remember him... a funny, but incredibly caring man. I was honored to have been a friend of his, and I'll never forget how he always looked out for me. There will never be another person like him, and I am so incredibly blessed to have had the chance to call him a friend.
I'll always remember the laughter and conversations in the hotel rooms at tournaments with him and Michelle, when the three of us would sit around and just laugh with Arby's. It was one of the things I always looked forward to. I'll never forget those memories.
