Delbert Simmons Obituary

COLUMBIA - Services for Delbert Lee Simmons, 52, of 10 Lancer Court, Columbia, will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 1:00pm at Full Gospel Evangelistic Church, Rosewood Drive. Interment to follow in Promised Land Cemetery. A.A. Dicks Funeral Home-Sullivan Chapel is in charge of these arrangements.

Mr. Simmons died on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born in New Bern, NC, to the late Jacob and Lizzie McDaniel Simmons. He was married to Janie Sox Simmons.

He is survived by: his wife, Janie Simmons; three sons, Lynwood Sox of Columbia, SC, Delbert Lee Simmons Jr. of Biloxi, MS, and Jacob Simmons of Cayce, SC; two daughters, Stephanie Cannon of Florida, and Elizabeth Williams of Lexington, NC; three brothers, Charles Simmons of Fort Meyers, FL, George (Ella) Simmons of Grifton, NC, and Jacob W. Simmons of Kinston, NC; five sisters, Flora (Raymond) Younger of Columbia, SC, Mary (David) Holmes of LaGrange, NC, Sylvia Vines of Jacksonville, NC, Marion (Lonnie) Cannon of Grifton, NC, and Angela Bizzell of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

i'm going to miss my friend. when i needed advice from a male he was there for me. i'm going to miss his laugh. you will truly be missed. if only i knew you wasn't going to be here i would have been late for work and just talk to you when you called me. i love you my friend
