...still have my RC Derland Moore, #74, soda can here in my St Louis. Met Derland several times as a NOLA skycap...once as he was going to join the Jets and after his retirement, flying back to Missouri. REST IN PEACE, Derland.

Rest easy Big D, we will miss you here immensely, my friend. So fortunate to have known and worked with you over the last decade. Remember going to Saints games as a teenager and seeing you play...never knew our paths would cross later in life. So many stories and helpful advise-filled talks that I will never forget. Thank you for sharing your big heart and friendship. God bless your amazing family. Nothing but love, Kevin

Often I hear people who become famous forget where they come from or lose touch with friends. Derland would never forget where he came from or the friends he made along the journey to becoming famous.
My friendship as well as the rest of the Rice families friendship started early in Der’s Time at OU. An unlikely duo we had a great time at OU. Who could grill the best steak was always a favorite discussion.
We had some great times in New Orleans. He loved showing me around and introducing me to the Food and Fun in NO.
Two Sugar Bowl trips with OU and Two Super Bowl Trips later were legendary.
He was nice enough to invite my brother Marc and I To the Missouri Hall of Fame presentation. What a thrill. It was another reminder he had long time friends everywhere.
All this being said is to say I’ll miss the calls to tell me how terrible the OU D Is most years and talk about how much fun we have had. He was a Friend in the best sense of the word and I will miss him terribly.
To the family, know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for sharing such a fantastic person with all of us.

My sincere love and condolences goes to Frannie, Michelle,Chip,Brad and the entire Moore family. I am humbled and honored to have known Derland. We worked together for 8 plus years, He was much more than my coworker, He was a part time preacher, motivational speaker, therapist, environmentalist, political analyst, economic consultant and the greatest story teller I've ever met. More importantly, he was my friend. Words alone can't express how much I'll miss him. Rest In Peace my Friend.
Love and Eternal Blessings,
