Diana Smith Obituary

Diana Jocelyn Plummer Smith entered into eternal rest at her home on August 16, 2022, at the age of 76 years old. Diana was born on March 27, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Frank and Alma Augustus Plummer, and she was a devoted wife to the late Arthur Douglas Smith, Sr. She graduated Class of 1964 from Walter L. Cohen High School, where she was a cheerleader and Ms. WaLoCo. Diana owned and operated her own nursery, Dee's Little Angels, for many years and she loved to listen to R&B music and dance, watch classic movies, and play with her grandchildren; she was especially known to keep up with the latest celebrity gossip! Diana is survived by her seven children: Kenneth (Monica), Amichelle, Alanna, Alicia, Anita (Wallace Jr.), Allyson (Raynard), and Arthur Jr.; eleven grandchildren: Michael, Aaron, Janai, Andrea, Kenneth, Chad, Austin, Madison, Christian, Chloe, Wallace III; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Plummer and Alma Augustus Plummer, her sister Janice Consuela Plummer Bax, and her husband Arthur Douglas Smith, Sr. Relatives and friends of the family, as well as alumni of Walter L. Cohen High School, are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 20th at D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil Street, Gretna, LA 70053 at 10 am with Pastor Jerome Smith, Sr. officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 am. Arrangements by D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125. Internment: Private. For the health and safety of all, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, everyone in attendance is asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. To the beautiful family of my dear and sweet cousin: Another link has been broken in our family with the home going of Diana, but remember that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Hold on to God´s unchanging hands. God bless you all.
