I never imagined my life without Nana. Its silly to say, but I never thought shed leave us. I wanted her to be here forever. I know the city of New Orleans was blessed to know her, but I was more blessed to be her granddaughter. She was my naaa-na, not just Nana. She was an amazing grandmother to me; she was a sassy little thing with a personality larger than life. I am selfish, and I want her back more than anything in this world, but God needs her more than we do.
I have a lifetime of memories with Nana, but my favorite are the ones I got to share with her and Eleanora. Eleanora and Nana had a special bond that I will never forget. Eleanora thought Nana was fun-size like her. Nana would smile and chuckle at everything Eleanora did and said. I would always call them the two nuggets because they had such strong similarities. I will always remember her saying hello, my gawgeous baby every time she saw her or FaceTimed. She was Eleanoras biggest cheerleader, and mine as well.
Growing up I always wanted to be Queen Cleopatra. I didnt want it for the fancy costume, instead I wanted to be a gracious Queen and make Nana proud. She was so inspirational and humble. I was always in awe of how she took such pride in her Krewe. I wanted her to find me in the crowd, meet me down the aisle for my Grand March, and ride together in the convertible down to the parade route - God Blessed me because I have those memories
Nana loved God and put ALL of her trust in Him- she would tell me Al, the Lord provides or I believe in God, and this is Gods Will. She is now my Guardian Angel, and I know she will guide me through life. I will forever love Nana with everything inside of me. Ive had heartbreak, but this is a heartbreak like no other. You will never know how blessed and proud I am to call you my grandmother. I never wanted to disappoint you, and will continue to make you proud.
The tears wont stop pouring from my eyes. You hated to see my cry or hurting, right now you would tell me to offa it up in your precious accent. Please watch over us and give us strength. There will not be a day we wont miss your gentle touch and sweet smile. You were adored and so loved. We will always keep your spirit alive. You will forever be the Queen of our family and Mardi Gras- but most importantly my Nana. I love you...until we meet again Tuts
P.S. - I want to be like you Tuts, BEAUTIFUL until your last breath
