Dear Rosemary and the Hemelt Family,
Sue and I are deeply saddened to hear the news of Don's passing. I had the distinct privilege of working with him recently and will miss him greatly. Not only was Don a colleague, but a friend who was a kind and gentle soul and truly a "doctor's doctor"! I was honored to have had the opportunity to temporarily take on his role in the laboratory at Ochsner Westbank during his absence. A day did not go by that colleagues did not ask about him, a testament to his friendship and working relationships with his peers and friends.
We had the pleasure of Don and Rosemary's company during the Christmas holidays, and enjoyed every moment we had together, even though it was too brief.
Our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to you and your family. May God bless and keep you during this time of sorrow and grief. Take comfort in the belief that we will see him again one day.
Love,
Leo & Sue
