On Friday, November 17, 2023, Donald David Dietze, Sr. of Metairie, LA peacefully passed away at the age of 85 years. He suffered several tragedies in his life leaving him blind and bed bound for the last 6 years. He can see and walk now with Jesus, Our Lord. Donald David Dietze, Sr., was born on December 31, 1937, in Metairie, LA. He was one of six children to Catherine Mary Kenney and Julius William Dietze. "Ducky", as he was affectionately known, met the love of his life, Vivian Joan Hayes, and married her in 1957, but divorced in 1973. Together, they had two children, Cheryl Ann and Donald David, Jr. He remarried in 1975 to Karen Ellen Currie, and together had two children, Rebecca Elaine and Daniel, but divorced in 1987. Ducky was a gifted Carpenter and Contractor well known locally with D&S Construction, partnered with Conrad Stauder. He moved on to do commercial construction throughout the states around 1990 and returned home around 2001. Shortly after returning home, he suffered an injury leaving him blind, but he managed on his own until 6 years ago. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken hip and remained in dependent care afterwards. Ducky was an avid tennis player in local facilities, Lynn Park Country Club, Tres Vidas Apartment Complex and Country Club Holmes. He was known to hydrate with a six pack of Miller Lite ponies while playing. He also loved music and dancing, trying to live joyfully. His wit was uncanny and always generated laughter. However, his travels kept him away from steady family and friends. He was a good man inherently and was always available to lend a helping hand. Preceded in Death by his sisters Esther and Marian and brother Julius, and wife, Vivian. Ducky is survived by his children Donald Dietze, Cheryl Dietze, Rebecca Dietze and Daniel Dietze, and grandchildren Desirae Dietze Gaastra, Danielle Dietze, Dexter Webster, Donald Webster, and David Webster, and great-grandchildren Tristan Gaastra and Brianna Rose Gaastra, plus sisters Florence Delgado and Marjorie Stanton. Ducky lives forever in our Hearts!
