Doretha Duckett

Doretha Duckett entered eternal rest at her residence on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the age of 86. She was a native of Schriever, LA and resident of New Orleans, LA. Doretha was a member of Progressive Church for over 41 years serving as a deaconess and mother of the church. Beloved mother of Frances M. (Roy, Sr.) Matthews, Carol A. Joubert, Edward Duckett, Michael Duckett, and the late Patricia Ann Frazier, and Larry Duckett. Loving grandmother of Erica (Eric), Roy, Jr., Esaw, III (Amber), Chantel, Michael, Jr., Kareen, and the late Dr. Sheldon Maurice. Great-grandmother of the late Paris Holmes. Daughter of the late George Duckett and Ida Winslow. Granddaughter of the late Charey and Jane Winslow, George and Melinda Duckett. Sister of Mary Lee Duckett, Jeanette (Daniel, Sr.) Martin, and the late Zenobia Duckett, Gloria Lee Parker, Mae Francis Reed, Elsie Bell Roussell, and Ida Mae Turner. Niece of Daisy Harris and Hazel Gasery. Mother-in-law of Shelton Ray Joubert, also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Progressive Church, 437 Coehn St., Marrero, LA on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the above-named church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
