Doris Bourgeois Obituary

Doris Dauterive Bourgeois, age 92, courageously went home to be with God on February 03, 2015 following illness from several health issues. Born on June 16, 1922 to Vivian and Gaston Dauterive, she was the 10th of 15 children. She was a life-long resident of St Bernard Parish until 2005 when she moved to Mandeville following Hurricane Katrina. Doris dedicated her life to her family and in serving the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband Drauzin J. Bourgeois Sr., Drauzin Jr."D.J."(son), Kerry W.(daughter-in law) and Michael Christopher(son). She is survived by Suzanne Gilbert (Thomas), Daniel Paul (Diane) and Yves "Y.J."(Colleen) as well as: family of Suzanne and Tommy- Thomas Jr. and Dawn Gilbert (Blaine, Cassidy), Kevin, and Tammy Marie; numerous family members of Daniel and Diane including Antonia White, Louis A. Battle and Christopher Battle; family of YJ and Colleen-Stephanie and Glenn Carter (Jacob, Morgan, Katelyn, Maggie), Kevin and Michelle Pearce; descendants of DJ-Robert Paul and Rhonda(Ana, Ryan, Jena); and descendants of DJ and Kerry- David and Melissa, Brent and Lauren(Randon, Colton, Parker). Doris is also survived by her devoted and loving sister Lucille Lorio. In serving God, Doris and Drauzin were founding parishioners of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chalmette. Doris continued her service to the Lord through her devotion to St. Maurice Catholic Church. In 1988 she received the Order of St Louis Medal of Honor bestowed on lay people for their dedicated service to the Catholic Church. In Mandeville since 2005, she was a founding parishioner and cherished by her church family at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Heartfelt appreciation to Suzanne and Tommy Gilbert for their long term loving care of Mom since hurricane Katrina. Family is also grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Cannon Hospice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4465 Hwy 190 East Service Road, Covington, La. 70433 (985-892-0642) on Saturday February 7th from 10 AM to Noon followed by the Funeral Mass. Burial in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, La following mass. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Building Fund in Doris' memory.
