Doris Wright Obituary

WRIGHT, DORIS JOHNSON - age 95 died Wednesday, June 23, 2009 at the Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edward and Emma Jane Johnson; her husband, Boyd L. Wright of Knoxville; sisters, Lottie Johnson, Lillian Holt, Katherine Jones and Martha Burnette of Bristol and Margaret Rhea of Kingsport; and brothers, Lee Albert, Clifton, Arthur and Bill Johnson of Bristol. Mrs. Wright and her husband owned and operated several restaurants in Knoxville, the last being the Southern Grill on Broadway. After the death of her husband in 1974, she moved back to Bristol where she lived until she became a resident at Brakebill Nursing Home in 2007 where she was cared for with love. She had been a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church while she lived in Knoxville. Survivors include one daughter: Sue Wright, of Knoxville, TN; one sister: Ruby Mobley, of Blountville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, June 26, 2009 in the Mausoleum Chapel in Glenwood Cemetery with Dr. Clay Austin officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 noon Friday in the Mausoleum Chapel. E-mail condolences may be sent to [email protected] Akard Funeral Home; 1912 W. Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I will never forget the time we went to Daytona with your Mom & Dad & dog that barked at me the whole way & back or the day we tried to be hostesses at the restaurant (I think we lasted an hour before your parents told us we could go! Then there was the hassle over her not wanting us to go to Miami Beach! You will miss her I know! She was great!
