Dorothy O'Neil Obituary

Dorothy Dunbar O'Neil, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, surrounded by family and friends at West Suburban Hospital, Oak Park, IL, humbly stepped aboard the Chariot of Eternal Life. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, Chicago, IL, pastored by Rev. Lloyd Keith. Age 86 years. Wife of the late Walter O'Neil; daughter of the late Boisey and Edna Dunbar; loving sister of the late John Dunbar, Elizabeth D. Russell, Inez Melancon, Leonard and Sarah Turner. Survived by endearing nephews and nieces: Edward and Ronald (Glen) Russell; Deborah Russell Williams, Shone C. (Kevin) Scretchings, Turner/Melancon/O'Neil families; longtime friend/"adopted" daughter, Henriella "Hank" Jones of Chicago IL; sister-in-law of Doretha Mayberry of Natchez, MS; loving neighbors: Peggy and Terry Eckeridge, Anita Gladney and Crystal London; and a host of great nieces, nephews and caring cousins. Family and friends, also pastor, officers and members of Stronger Hope B.C. are invited to the Homegoing Celebration Services on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at Stronger Hope Baptist Church, 2402 So. Galvez Street, visitation from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time; Rev. Joel C. Profit, Sr., officiating. Interment, Mt. Olivet Mausoleum.
