Dr. Patrick Brady Jr. Obituary

Dr. Patrick "Tony" Brady, Jr. age 62, of Slidell, Louisiana, flew to heaven on the wings of angels on Thursday, February 8, 2024 after suffering a massive brain aneurysm. Dr. Brady was born in New Orleans on April 12, 1961, and resided in Slidell for the last 29 years. He leaves behind his parents Patrick Brady, Sr., Eleanor (Vicky) Brady, and brother Darryl Brady. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Louis and Vera Brady, Curtis (Cotton) and Cletoria (Memaw) Reid, sister Katherine Jean Brady, and partner Johnny Gordon. He is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply. Patrick had a host of long time friends: Lisa Daigle, Kathleen Oldham, Val Gordon, Eddie and Lisa Gordon, Ron and Alaynna King and daughters, Deborah Chatham, Edrie and Rainey Lyons, Talmadge Sibley, Sherrie Kilcrease and his beloved cat Quincy. Dr. Brady graduated from Charity School of Nursing with his RN degree in 1983. He furthered his education with his first Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama in 2010. He worked at Methodist Pendleton Hospital in New Orleans for over 20 years until Hurricane Katrina relocated him to William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS, where he served as an instructor of nursing until his death. While working at William Carey, he earned his second Doctorate, this time in Philosophy. He returned to his Alma Mater to serve as the President of the Charity Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association for several terms. He received numerous awards throughout his career, including being an inaugural recipient of the Top 100 Nurses in Louisiana. Patrick had a tremendous heart, helping his students and friends tirelessly and never asking for anything in return. He loved enjoying his home and working in his garden. One of his main past times was taking his car to Pikes Auto Repair shop where he constantly had dents and dings removed due to his lack of driving skills. He was loved by everyone, and will be missed for his compassion, empathy, quick wit and his big laugh. A special thanks to his ICU nurses at Lake View Hospital; Clayton Spriggs and Laurie Laurent. A service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at Northshore Baptist Church, 310 Kensington Blvd, Slidell LA. Visitation will begin at 9 am, concluding at 10:45 am with a special end of duty presentation from the Louisiana Nurse Honor Guard. A memorial service will follow. Mr. and Mrs. Brady, and Mr. Gordon: I just learned today of Patrick's untimely death and wanted to extend my deepest condolences. Even though I am not in the nursing profession, we worked together at William Carey University in various capacities. I know that he travelled to campuses in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Hattiesburg and Biloxi. He was such a nice man and a great professor who was liked and admired by everyone who knew him. I feel honored and blessed to have known him.

Tony,,, I will always think of you and all of our crazy days growing up. From the big house to mawmaws the camp and all of our family get togethers. I would love for you to know that Quincy is doing amazing even though I know he's still grieving you but he is adjusting and we are loving him as much as you are and did. I will take perfectly good care of your baby for you. Don't worry. He's in great hands and we are so Thankful to Uncle Pat and Aunt Vicki for allowing Quincy to come live with us. We love Quincy but I'm taking care and loving him just for you. Rest easy my cousin. You are loved and missed. Always

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Brady, I never knew Patrica personally. But we talked many times at a different Charity Hospital School Of Nursing reunions. He was always willing to take time to talk to you. You could tell that he truly loved his profession. I´m so glad he was president of our alumni for many years.
I will pray for him, you and the rest of the family for peace and comfort. God bless to all of you.

Dr. Brady as I would call him was such a wonderful individual. There are so many words that can describe him but most importantly he was a lovable person with much wit. I will miss our many talks, laughs, and just seeing you in the hallway at WCU on the Hattiesburg campus. So many memories of a great man. You´re surely missed.

I love Patrick Brady. From the moment I met him, our spirts connected. A man of compassion and common sense, he encouraged (told) me more than once to "just take care of those little wrinkles" on my forehead. Maybe, I will now, Patrick. My heart hurts and grieves with his countless friends and precious family.

Heartfelt condolences to the Brady family. I had the honor of being a student of Dr. Brady. Not many professors will give their students their cell phone number, but he did! He told us to call if we needed anything, and he was there to answer. I am greatful to have known him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Patric when he called me, BB landscaping to redo his gardens Although he was a new customer, he became way more than that He was such a loving and sweet and kind person I could sit and talk to him all day. I loved how much he talked about mr. Johnny and I know that he is so so happy to be flying high and hanging out with him. I am going to miss you so much Mr Patric not because you were my customer, but I felt like you were my friend. I’m gonna miss those talks fly high, my sweet friend, rest in peace.

Simply put the world is a better place because of him. His professional kindness and compassion has been passed on to so many that his legacy will live on through generations of nurses, and therefore the lives of so many have been indirectly touched because of him. His wit and sense of humor will be forever missed by everyone who knew him, especially his amazing parents. I will always treasure our serindipitous meeting in England this summer. Sending much love to Mr. Pat and Ms. Vicki. Fly high my friend until we meet again.
