Edna Lucas Obituary

LUCAS Edna Isabelle Englebracht Lucas entered into heaven on Sunday, December 23, 2012 after a courageous and lengthy battle from illness resulting from strokes. She was 78. Beloved and devoted wife of Loyus "Luke" Lucas for 60 years. Proud and loving mother of Deanna Lucas. Sister of Phyllis Andrieu (Hank). Also survived by a half-sister, Susan Revall; sisters-in-law, Linda Engelbracht and Deanna Lambert (Donald) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rosella Williamson; her brother, Frank Engelbracht, her half-brother, James Engelbracht and her mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Eula Lucas, whom she adored. Edna was born in New Orleans and was a longtime resident of Metairie and Hammond. She worked as an office manager at various jobs until she and Luke were blessed with the adoption of their cherished daughter. Her greatest joy was derived from caring for her family, friends and many cherished cats. Other lifelong activities she enjoyed were cooking, sewing, quilting and reading. She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in Hammond, supported St. Francis Animal Sanctuary and helped family and friends whenever needed. After her husband retired, they were able to enjoy many vacations throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the Internal Medical Clinic of Tangipahoa, Generations Hospice, Legacy Hospice and North Oaks Medical Center for their compassion and care. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, P.O.
