Edward Thurmond Sr.

Edward "Bruh, Eddie, Big Daddy" Thurmond Sr. passed away at Touro Infirmary on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the age of 72. He was a native of Lexington, Mississippi and the son of the late Noel Tom Thurmond and Mattie Lee Winters Thurmond. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Wanda Lee Hart, children Rosalyn Hart and Willie Byars Jr. and sister Bessie Lee Moore. He was the beloved father of Coedith Thurmond, Edward (Germaine) Thurmond Jr., Derrick (Yolanda) Byars, Cedric (Regina) Byars, Larry Byars, and Tracy Byars. Loving brother of Tom Thurmond Sr., Ruthie Bailey and Jannie (Robert) David all from Lexington, MS. He is also survived by his mother in law Gloria Mitchell-Hart, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also Pastors, Officers and members of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church and Sunny Mount Baptist Church of Lexington Mississippi are invited to attend A Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church 2926 Jackson Avenue. Visitation at 9:00 A. M. Pastor Willie E. Moore officiating. Interment Thurmond Cemetery on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 11:00 A. M. in Lexington, Mississippi.
