Edward Ward Obituary

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Edward E. Ward, Jr., loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of one, passed away at the age of 73. Edward was born on June 18, 1949, in Louisiana to Edward E. Ward, Sr. and Mildred Roch Ward. He primarily lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he graduated from Franics T. Nicholls High School, and afterwards went on to work for the N.O.P.S.B. maintenance department for over 30 years specializing as a glazier. In 1984, he married Irene Charles. Together, they raised her two sons, Darrin and Rodney, and had a third child, Edward III. Edward was, amongst many things, a friendly man to most who met him. He was a frequent storyteller, history buff of New Orleans and the surrounding area, and an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. In recent years, he decided to work in the film industry as a Property Manager at St. Maurice Church and as a historian at the old Peter and Paul Church in the Marigny. He was known for his sense of humor, his helpful nature, and his loyalty to his family and friends. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Edward E. Ward, Sr., and his mother, Mildred Ward. He is survived by his wife, Irene Ward; his three children, Darrin Johnson, Rodney Johnson, and Edward E. Ward, III (Monique Ward); his siblings, Geraldine Ward, Kathleen Montz (Robert Montz), Robert Ward (Mary Ward), Mildred Chatagnier (Rene Chatagnier), Helen Ward, and Jean Lopez (John Lopez); his granddaughter, Rylee Johnson (daughter of Jodi Davidson); and a host of extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Blessed Francis Seelos Catholic Church located at 3037 Dauphine Street, New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a mass will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the church.
