Edward Joseph Welsch III was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 20, 1942 to the late Edward Joseph Welsch, Jr. and Enola Bourgeois Welsch. He entered into eternal life on Monday, March 10, 2014. Eddie is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Patricia Patterson Quigley Welsch. Eddie is survived by four children, Edward J.Welsch IV ( Jennifer), Elizabeth Welsch Landry (Victor), Gregory P. Welsch (Anne), and Christopher M. Welsch, and step-daughters Shelley Ann Quigley and Stacy Quigley Hingle (A.J.). Grandchildren Colin Landry, Tyler Welsch, Chase Landry, Mason Welsch, Christian Landry, Carson Landry, Jac Welsch, Nic Welsch, and step-granddaughter, Gianna Hingle. Eddie is also survived by his two sisters, Leslie Welsch Miller (Charles) and Nancy Welsch Fore (John), his aunt Rose Marie LaFranca Dietrich, and his father-in-law Arnold G. Patterson with whom he enjoyed a close and loving friendship. Eddie also enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Fred Charles Masset, Jr. and, since his marriage to Patricia, a deep and enjoyable friendship with Wilson (Billy) Maloz. He was preceded in death by his first wife, JacLynn Marie Brown Welsch, his first mother-in-law Angela LaFranca Brown, and his mother-in-law Dorothy Jemison Patterson. Eddie was a graduate of the 1960 class of Jesuit High School and received degrees in Business Administration and Law from Loyola University. After forty years, he retired from Whitney Bank as Vice President of the Trust and Management Division. He was a member of the Blessed Seelos Council 2878 Knights of Columbus, a man of Manresa, ROMEO's (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and Serra Club. Eddie enjoyed spending time and traveling with Patricia and his many friends and family. He especially enjoyed the Wine Down Wednesday nights at Hobnobber's Restaurant. The family would like to thank Dr. Joystna Fuloria and Drunita West, MA for the outstanding professional health care given to Eddie during his illness. These two health providers were great ladies and healers in whom Eddie placed total confidence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70005 on Monday, March 17, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 AM with mass at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. Eddie had a strong love of the Mass and, in lieu of flowers, masses are preferred. Also donations in his memory may be sent to Jesuit High School, 4133 Banks St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70119-6883 or Notre Dame Seminary, 2901 S. Carrollton Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana 70118-4391. Dear Pat and Family:
I have known Eddie for over 40 years and car pooled with him for about 25 to 30 of those years. I have watch all of the kids grow up. He helped me and my wife greatly last year when I was in the hospital prior to his illness. I loved him very much as a big brother. I will truly miss him very much. I think about him daily. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
