Emile "Shotgun" Edwards Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021. He was born in New Orleans, La. on May 25, 1937 to the late Emile and Ruth Edwards. Emile attended Thomy Lafon Elementary School and Samuel Green Junior High School. He worked on the Riverfront for several years and was also employed by the Sewerage and Water Board. Emile was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Edwards Sr. and Ruth Smith Edwards; Four sisters, Barbara Brown, Brenda Alexander, Bobbie Edwards and Roberta Coleman; Two brothers, Harold Edwards and Marcel Edwards; Left to cherish his memories, Four sisters, Betty Edwards, Beverly Wilson, Lucinda Coleman and Judy Novoselsky; One brother, Anthony Edwards (Juliette); Longtime Companion Shelley Kelley; Five stepchildren, Floyd, Milton, Andrew, Sheila and Darrielle Kelley. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers and members of Next Generation of Original Morning Star Full Gospel Baptist Church are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, November 5, 2021 beginning 10:00 a.m. at Next Generation of Original Morning Star Full Gospel Baptist Church, 3536 St. Ferdinand Street, Rev. Tyrone Smith, pastor, officiating. Church visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Masks are Required. Private burial to follow.
