Emile Oustalet Obituary

OUSTALET Emile Albert Oustalet, Jr., a retired Metairie businessman died June 22, 2004, in East Jefferson Hospital. He was 81. Survivors include three daughters; Valerie Oustalet Horton of Hammond, Melanie Oustalet Hirschfeld of Metairie, and Denise A. Oustalet of Metairie, and four sons; Emile A. Oustalet, III of New Orleans, Keith R. Oustalet of Metairie, Kenneth M. Oustalet of Metairie and Randall G. Oustalet of Belle Chasse. His brother is Mahlon Louis Oustalet of Metairie and nephew Mahlon Louis Oustalet II of Metairie. His twelve grandchildren; Lisa Horton Flattmann, Darrell E. Horton II, Brett D. Horton, Jennifer A. Horton, Heather Hirschfeld Bellanger, Ashley Hirschfeld McQuiddy, Jennifer Marsell, Jason Marsell, Brad Emile Oustalet, Kirsten M. Oustalet, Brittany M. Oustalet and Randall Emile Oustalet. Five great-grandchildren: Zoe T. Flattmann, Zachary T. Flattmann, Zia T. Flattmann, Zeke T. Flattmann, and Morgan Ashley Bellanger. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Ethel Grace Oustalet; his father Emile A. Oustalet, Sr. and his mother Hazel Budde Oustalet.Mr. Oustalet was born February 26, 1923 in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 51 years. He was a parishioner of St. Christopher and St. Benilde Catholic churches. He was a partner at Joval Manufacturing Company, Inc. for more than twenty-five years. Mr. Oustalet was a graduate of Samuel J. Peters Boys High School of Commerce. He served in the United States Navy in World War II in the Pacific Arena aboard the USS Kadashan Bay CVE -76 as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd class. He was a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus, a member of Archbishop Rummel High School's Old Timers Club, The Banana Bunch, Elks Lodge #30, TOGOM, and Andres Sports Club. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. A Mass will be said Friday, June 25, 2004 at 12:00 noon in the chapel at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery). Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.
