Emmie Curry Obituary

CURRY Emmie Gillock Curry, age 97, of Slidell, La. died on Friday, February 25, 2005 in Slidell Memorial Hospital. Daughter of the late Charles Allen and Florrie (McLeod) Gillock. Mother to, Lorraine La Faver of Slidell, La. and grandmother to, Alan La Faver of Canton, Georgia, Sandra LaFaver of Portland, Oregon and Odell La Faver of New Orleans, La. Great grandmother to Emmy La Faver. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Allen Gillock, Jr. and a sister, Laura Gillock. Ms. Curry was a native of Lula, MS and has been a resident of Slidell for the past 25 years. She was a retired teacher; teaching Jr. High, High School and College over her career and has taught in Virginia, Mississippi and Louisiana schools. A graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, receiving her B. A., and went on to receive her M. S. degree from Duke University. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Slidell, La. A member of the LEA, AARP and served as a Girl Scout District leader. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Monday, February 28, 2005 at 7:00 o'clock PM in Schoen Funeral Home, 3808 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell, La. 70458 (985) 643-2111.
