Esther F. Rosenfeld

Esther F. Rosenfeld, 89, a native of Olyphant, and former resident of Scranton, died Saturday at the Kutz Home in Wilmington, Del.

Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Schwartz Rosenfeld. She was a graduate of Olyphant High School, and also of secretarial school. Esther's career with the Radiological Group of Scranton lasted 50 years. During her career, she was active in professional groups throughout Pennsylvania, as well as the Medical Secretaries Association, Lackawanna Neighbors Association, Hadassah, the Scranton Jewish Community Center, where she served on its board of directors, and as a past president of its Senior Adult Club. Esther was very active with Daffodil Days and was an example to her family of professionalism and achievement for all women.

After her retirement, Esther moved from Olyphant, to the "big city," Scranton. She took an active leadership role with the Senior Adult Group at the JCC, as well as volunteering for numerous charities across the city. She was also a member of Temple Israel, Scranton.

Surviving are nieces, Pennye Weinstein and husband, Jay, West Chester; Jill Standlee and husband, Taylor, San Francisco; and Rona Levenson, West Chester; and grandnieces, Erica and Livia; and a grandnephew, Scott.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Pearl Rosenfeld, Milton (Mitch), Myer (Mike), Wilfred (Bib) and Bertram (Bud) Rosenfeld.

A funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, by Rabbi Moshe Saks. Interment in the Olyphant Jewish Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from noon to the time of the service at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Posh at the Scranton Club, 404 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.
