MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS REMAIN WITH THE FAMILY AT THIS TIME OF BEREAVEMENT.
SUCH FOND MEMORIES OF GENE THACKER IN THE DAYS OF THE THIN BLUE LINE WITHIN THE JEFFERSON PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE. AN ERA WHERIN THE WOMEN AND MEN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT CARED FOR ONE ANOTHER.
GENE WAS, IS AND WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED AS A HARD WORKING AND GET THE JOB DONE OFFICER. HE CARED FOR HIS FAMILY AND STAYED CLOSE TO GOD.
IT WAS AN HONOR TO KNOW HIM, TO CALL HIM BROTHER AND TO SERVE WITH HIM. I WILL CONTINUE TO TELL HIS MAY STORIES AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM AS MY BROTHER IN CHRIST AND OF THE SHIELD.
REST IN PEACE BROTHER. I HOPE TO SPEND ETERNITY IN OUR FATHER'S KINGDOM WITH YOU.

I will miss my friend Captain E. Tacker, I enjoyed being around him especially when he lived just right around the corner from me on Candle light street, we always laughed and talked about some of everything can to mind. I worked with him at the sheriff's depart and He used to load me up with details and always made sure I was his first pick at some of them. You will always have the title as a Good Captain which you so rightly earned and I will always remember you as that good friend. I will miss you my friend.
