Evelio Santiago Cuadrado

Evelio Santiago Cuadrado, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023 at the age of 87 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Born October 15, 1936 in Havana, Cuba, he was a devout Catholic, a resident of New Orleans for over 40 years and a resident of Guatemala City for the past 27 years. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1953, proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, earned a B.S. degree in Commercial Science from Loyola University and completed LSU's Graduate School of Banking of the South. He enjoyed an extensive career in International Banking, his specialty being Trade Finance. Once he moved to Guatemala, he worked for AGIT conducting translation work and teaching international banking classes. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a passion for genealogy research. He will always be missed and remembered. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alicia Azurdia Cuadrado, a native of Guatemala, his parents, Dr. Manuel Cuadrado-Melo and Julia Barroso-Hernandez, both natives of Havana, Cuba. His grandparents, on the father's side, Manuel Cuadrado-Garcia, a native of Tiedra, Valladolid, Spain, and Gregoria de Melo-Oliva, a native of Matanzas, Cuba. On the mother's side, Martin Barroso-Brito, a native of El Calvario, Havana, Cuba, and Luisa Hernandez-Salazar, a native of Ceiba Mocha, Havana, Cuba. His brothers Manuel Cuadrado, Rev. Alfredo Cuadrado SJ, and Luis Cuadrado, sister Julia Cuadrado and nephew Manuel Cuadrado. Survived by his son Enrique (Henry) Cuadrado, his step daughters, Ana Elizabeth Corzo, Miriam Corzo Marilu de Castillo, Vilma Corzo Azurdia de Cruz, step granddaughter Patricia Solís Corzo, nephews Jorge Cuadrado, Lucas Cuadrado, Carlos Cuadrado, Luis Cuadrado and Nora Cuadrado Stacey. Funeral service was held at Capillas Señoriales in Guatemala City on November 17, 2023 with burial at Cementerio Las Flores in Mixco, Guatemala.
